Original show notes from this episode:

The “Lost” Society Burning Interview

In November of 2010, I conducted an interview with all 3 members of Society Burning the night before I suffered a catastrophic failure with my computer. At that time, and for months following, I thought that all was lost. Today, after using hard drive sector recovery software, I was finally able to retrieve the file that was the interview.

So after months of advertising the infamous review, I can finally present to you the final version of the interview. The actual interview lasted almost 40 minutes longer, but a lot of it was the 4 of us trying to get on the same page, so I edited out all of the mayhem and gave you the most listenable version of this conversation.

I think that you will enjoy it. There is a lot of ground covered, and you will find that not only are Society Burning a great band, they are an even better group of individuals. They are talented artists, great human beings, fans of this music, and also wonderful friends.

I thank them for their time, as well as their patience in getting this interview up. It may be 18 months later, but the information that we cover is still very relevant.

I also thank you, the listeners of the show and fans of Society Burning for waiting this long for this “lost” interview to finally be unveiled. Your long wait for this moment has finally been rewarded.

Original show notes from this episode:

In my opinion, there are 3 distinct periods of industrial rock/metal. First came the INTRODUCTORY ERA where the world was turned on it’s head and forced to take notice of the vicious and caustic sounds being produced by bands like Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and KMFDM.

The second period was the COLDWAVE ERA, where bands like Diatribe, Acumen Nation, Unit:187, Hate Dept., Society Burning and 16volt grabbed hold of the industrial rock flag and ran hard with it.

The final period would be the RESURGENCE ERA, the period of time that we are in now that began pretty much whenever you feel like it began, but for me started when I put together this podcast 3 years ago (okay, maybe it started earlier than that, but my ego needs to make ridculous claims like that!)

All 3 periods are covered in this episode. Instead of going through lengthy details about the bands like I usually do, I instead try to relate a personal aspect of each band as it pertains to my life.

I would really love to hear your personal stories and how they relate to these periods of industrial rock/metal. Visit the Razor Blade Dance Floor forums to express those stories.

The cheater episode!  I used a randomizer to select the tracks for this episode, and I think that I am rather satisfied with the results.  Good tracks by good bands that all seemed to fit together rather nicely, and kept a solid groove going through the whole episode.  I’m thinking that I may need to do this more often!
